Once again Scott Rees and Co received the invite to attend Skelmersdale Cricket Club’s Annual presentation evening and once again, Associate for the firm, Alum Ullah was on hand to hand out the prizes.

After a long hard season, Skelmersdale CC just missed out on promotion, after a poor start came back to haunt them but there was plenty to celebrate come the presentation evening.

The club’s professional player, Adeel Blig, was recognised for achieving 72 wickets and scoring 745 runs, placing him as the third best professional in the Liverpool Comp and the best in the division, with three other players also making the top ten.

There was also the good news that Adeel had agreed to resign for 2015 and that he would be joined by Akmal Gaffor, an outstanding batsman, next year.

On to the awards and this years first team player of the year award was scooped by Ben Maddocks who also picked up The Ashcroft Trophy for best batting performance.

Meanwhile the second team player of the season award went to Kyle Till, The Club Member of the Year award Bill Molyneux and the Blakey Trophy for best performance was picked up by Phil Wright.

Club Vice President, Bill Regan, heralded the evening a success and had special praise for one of our Alum’s lesser known talents.

He said: “The presentation night was a roaring success and Alum, as always, entered into the spirit of the event. I must say, I am very impressed with his excellent singing. We really appreciate the attendance of a representative from Scott Rees and Co at all of our events.”

“The junior section is going from strength to strength and we are having numerous open days over the 2015 season on the back of the success of a similar event in 2014, when we had eight local high schools taking part in a round-robin knockout.”

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank Scott Rees & Co for their continued support and interest in our club.”

Scott Rees and Co has been sponsors of Skelmersdale CC for the last seven years.
