The Scott Rees & Co weekly staff football game became the venue for an epic set of encounters this week as the JMO sports park in Skelmersdale hosted three friendly games all in one fun filled evening.
Since 2013, Scott Rees & Co have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with manager Carl Eaton and his intrepid team who have achieved such feats as winning silver at the special Olympics and having several members of the squad included in the British Mencap team.
Our regularly arranged friendlies are always hotly contested affairs and as usual, Tuesday 16th August was another one for the history books, as an 11 strong team of Scott Rees & Co players all got involved in 3 games against teams of varying ability from the Aces. Everybody involved got some game time and it was smiles all around as each game brought some fun moments and memorable goals.
Highlights included an epic turnaround in fortunes in the 2nd game as the Aces found themselves 5 – 4 down only to switch the scoreline to 7 – 4 in less than 5 minutes. This was followed by an end to end final game, in which the Scott Rees & Co charges managed to eek out the narrowest of victories in a 9 – 8 reverse of the main event fixture the last time the two sides met. At the end of play the day’s score lines read as follows:
Skem Menaces 5 – 4 Scott Rees & Co
Skem Menaces 7 – 4 Scott Rees & Co
Skem Menaces 8 – 9 Scott Rees & Co
In the past our relationship with the Skem Men Aces has seen us provide them with funds towards a new team minibus, enabling them much better travelling options and the provision of new kit to look just as professionally as they play. We also enjoy playing regularly arranged matches and hope to continue this great partnership long into the future.
Thanks Carl and the rest of the Aces for a great set of games as always and good luck on seeking revenge for the final game at the next encounter!
