Last Friday finally saw the return of the Sponsors Challenge Cricket fixture between Skelmersdale Cricket Club and Scott Rees & Co and it did not fail to disappoint.
With fantastic weather, those who were in attendance were treated to a great evening’s cricket as the hosts setting a total of 121 runs for Scott Rees to chase and although they managed a record high total for a Scott Rees team (pictured below), they couldn’t quite manage to topple their hosts total as they posted 97 and were beaten by 24 runs.
Star man for Scott Rees was Captain, Jamie Hornby, who hit 30 and was presented with the man of the match trophy afterwards. Chris Parkin was the best of the rest, posting 28 runs towards the firms total.
Afterwards Skelmersdale Cricket Club General Secretary, Derek Lowe, thanked Scott Rees for their continuing support and for participating in this year’s fixture, after last years was rained off saying: “We would like to thank Scott Rees for sending down a team for our Annual Sponsors Challenge Match. The game went very will, was played in an excellent spirit, and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone.”
Scott Rees Captain, Jamie Hornby, thanked the club for their hospitality in response, and was upbeat despite losing. He said: “It was a really good evening and getting our highest ever score is obviously a great achievement. Thanks to everyone at Skelmersdale for making us feel welcome and we wish them luck for the rest of their season.”
Since founded in 1992, Scott Rees & Co have pledged their support to many different local and national organisations as they strive to help the community for which they serve. If you would like to be sponsored by Scott Rees & Co, then please get in touch with us about your project so we can discuss further.
