Scott Rees & Co, a Skelmersdale based solicitor, has offered a helping hand to one of their trainee Legal Executives as she prepares to take part in the Great North Swim by donating £100 towards her fundraising total.
Michelle Aindow, 26 years old from Southport, is competing in the event on Saturday to raise money for the Wigan and Leigh Hospice in memory of her friend and work colleague’s dad, Allan Moorfield who sadly passed away in January.
What makes her challenge even more daunting is the fact that she is taking on one of her biggest fears…
Michelle explains: “I decided to do the Great North swim to raise some money in memory of my friend Adele’s dad who sadly died at the age of 59 earlier this year. We have been friends since when I first started working with Scott Rees six years ago and I wanted to do something to support her.
“It was my friend Michelle who suggested that I took on the Great North Swim with her, as she knew it was something out of my comfort zone and therefore a massive challenge for me and would be a different way of raising money. I am by no means a confident swimmer and I am trying to conquer a personal fear of open water so it was definitely a challenge to even start training.
“I initially set a target of £500 and I am over the moon to have nearly raised £1000.”
Scott Rees Partner, David Byrne commended Michelle on her efforts saying: “What Michelle is doing is fantastic and it’s especially nice to hear that the bond between our staff is so strong. We wish her the best of luck with the swim and are only too happy to contribute to her efforts.”
Wigan and Leigh Hospice provide a specialist end of life care and a wide range of other services and are therefore a more than deserving cause. You can find out more information about what they do by visiting their Wigan and Leigh Hospice website.
