Last weekend an intrepid team of Scott Rees & Co representatives, including Senior Partner Daniel Rees & Marketing Partner David Byrne, attended a charity golf day at the popular Frodsham golf course. The event, held in aid of raising money for Merseyside’s Willowbrook Hospice, brought in excess of £8,700 from the festivities.
The day was attended by a selection of businesses who all sent teams to participate. With a team made of non regular golfers, the Scott Rees & Co scorecard made for positive viewing despite not coming out on top, with a respectable score of 65 points. Prizes were also given out to individuals achieving the longest drive and on some holes, hitting closest to the pin. Our very own Daniel Rees managed to scoop one of those prizes and walked away with a fetching umbrella and matching set of golf balls.
The short 6 hole course (designed to prevent the event becoming an overnight experience for some) was followed by a meal and charity auction with all proceeds heading to Willowbrook. A selection of sporting memorabilia was on offer, all adding towards the £8,700 total.
Willowbrook, who provide palliative care for those reaching the latter stages of their lives and their families, rely on donations to perform their work and events like this weekend go a long way to ensuring its continued effort. They also run a weekly lottery and have a number of charity shops around the North West. Scott Rees & Co have been a long term supporter of the hospice and strongly support the great work carried out by the carers staffing its Prescot based facility.
Speaking after the event, Marketing Partner David Byrne was very pleased to see the day raise so much for Willowbrook:
“The work carried out by Willowbrook is so important to so many people and to be done so by such a large network of mostly volunteers shows the commitment they have to giving the best possible palliative care for those in need. We always enjoy participating in events that help local causes and we are incredibly happy that our contributions today have helped raise over £8,000 they vitally need to continue that good work”.
It is not the first time Scott Rees & Co has attended the golfing event and definitely won’t be the last. With a good standard (and an impressive final total) set from this year, we’ll be hoping for a few more birdies and eagles at the next one!
