Scott Rees and Co would like to pass on a huge congratulations to Skelmersdale Cricket Club member, Peter McCann, on being recognised by the Lancashire Country Cricket board, for his services to the game.
Peter (pictured in the centre), who is the cricket secretary at Skelmersdale CC, for who we are the official team sponsors, was honoured for the work he does behind the scenes at the club where he takes on a variety of roles.
These include secretary, coach and welfare officer and Peter was integral in securing Club Mark status and also funding to renovate their practice area. He has also been heavily involved in the Cricket Force days held by the club and regularly supports the fundraising and recruitment efforts, for which the club are extremely grateful.
Stephen Griffiths, of Skelmersdale Cricket Club, praised Peter, saying: “Without Peter’s contribution, Skelmersdale CC would not be the thriving club it is today.”
He also received a glowing reference from the LCB’s Managing Director, Bobby Denning, who said: “Peter does what it says on the tin. He works as a volunteer for no other reason than to make a difference and because of his passion for the game – behind the scenes. This recognition is well deserved based on Peter’s commitment to take on things other probably wouldn’t.”
He received his award at Old Trafford on Friday night as Lancashire took on local rivals Yorkshire in their Natwest T20 Blast fixture, which they won by 29 runs.
Scott Rees and Co Marketing Partner, David Byrne, congratulated Peter on his award, saying: “We are extremely proud to hear about Peter’s recognition. We have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Skelmersdale cricket club and Peter is part of that. Without people like him, grass roots sport would struggle and he is a real credit to the sport, not to mention to the local area. I would like to congratulate him, on behalf of everyone involved with Scott Rees and Co, on his award.”
Scott Rees and Co have sponsored Skelmersdale CC for seven consecutive seasons and are on the verge of announcing that their relationship will continue into a eighth season shortly.
