We would like to send our congratulations to partner Lucie Illingworth for completing the London Marathon for charity last Sunday. Under the searing heat on a rare day we can call ‘Summer’, Lucie managed to finish the race in 4 hours 48 minutes! An incredible achievement indeed! The charity she ran for is Cancer Research UK where she raised a massive £1,152.
Cancer Research UK is one of the leading research organisations in the UK. Support and donations to this charity allow them to focus their research into 4 main categories: working to prevent cancer, diagnosing it earlier, developing new treatments and optimising current treatments to make them more effective. Money donated to this charity is re-invested into different research projects as they bid to make survival from cancer in the UK to be the best in the world.
Lucie said: “I took part in the London Marathon to raise money for breast cancer research, as sadly many friends and work colleagues have been affected by this awful disease.”
“I would like to thank everyone for their support and generous donations. I really enjoyed it (the race) and it was a day I shall never forget, although I will not be signing up for next year, just yet!”
