Macmillan's coffee morning

Scott Rees and Co took part in the Macmillan Cancer Appeal’s, World Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday, raising £290 in total for the charity.

The Skelmersdale based personal injury firm, took part in the event for the sixth consecutive year and were delighted that last year’s total of £210 was literally ‘beaten’, ‘whipped’ and ‘raised’.

Kathryn Grass, who arranged the event, was delighted with the response received by the firm and insisted that the target will be to topple the £300 mark next year.

She said: “This year saw a fantastic response to everyone who works at the firm and hopefully the money we have raised will, along with the millions that has been raised overall, go a long way in helping to beat this terrible disease.”

“Next year our target will be to raise even more money and get over the £300 mark.”

To help kick-start the fundraising, the firm, as they do every year, held a ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’ competition, which was won by Sueling Wong.

There was also the traditional hamper raffle, which was won by Naomi Riley!

Marketing Partner, David Byrne, praised the efforts of the staff, saying: “We are immensely proud of the effort that is put in by members of our staff when it comes to fundraising. The time taken by people like Kathryn, to coordinate these events is fantastic and hopefully we can continue to support charities, such as Macmillan, moving forward.”

Last year the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised a record total of £20million overall and it will be hoped that the total will be higher again this year.
