Scott Rees & Co employee, Chris Orrell and his band ‘Cat Called Dog’ are all set to appear on stage in Manchester tonight, as they prepare to support a band which includes some of the best that British Rock has had to offer in recent times.
Chris, who is a team manager with the firm, and his bandmate Frank McHale, are opening for the band ‘Black Submarine’, which boasts a line up including Nick McCabe and Simon Jones (formerly of The Verve), Michele ‘Mig’ Schillace’ who was the drummer for ‘Portishead’, Bristol-based vocalist Amelia Tucker and multi-instrumentalist/string arranger Davide Rossi who has worked with Goldfrapp and Coldplay.
Cat Called Dog are a two piece alt/rock band from Skelmersdale, who are clearly held in high regard by the Verve’s former guitarist and bassists, as Black Submarine described them as a “Killer two piece” on their own Facebook Page, when it was confirmed that Chris and Frank would be supporting them.
Talking about the opportunity to share the stage with some of Britain’s best rock musicians, Chris, who plays the drums, said: “This is a great opportunity for us and we’ve been really looking forward to it. The Verve are one of the most well known British rock bands of modern times so to get the opportunity to support two of their former members is a real privilege.”
As you would expect the gig is sold out but you can listen to some of Chris and Frank’s music and find out more about ‘Cat Called Dog’, on Facebook.
