Royston Smith

Royston joined the firm the year it was founded in 1992 and was made a Partner in 1997. He enjoyed a distinguished academic career and dual qualified as a Legal Executive and Solicitor with a first class honours degree in law.

Royston has specialised in cases of serious and catastrophic injury. He achieved a settlement of £1.2 million for a head-on collision on a country lane where liability was disputed and there were no witnesses. He also ran a high profile brain damage case arising from a road accident and secured a judgment in excess of £3.5 million.

As Managing Partner, Royston is responsible for the operational performance
of the firm which has ‘Investor in People' status and Lexcel accreditation.

A state-of-the-art IT system has been rolled out and has achieved award-winning status. The firm continues to grow and build upon its core business
in a competitive market.

Royston is also member of Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

David Byrne

David specialises in all aspects of road traffic accident claims, employer's liability, public liability, occupier's liability, product liability and CICA (Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority). He qualified as a solicitor in 2001 after studying law at Liverpool John Moores University. As Marketing Partner, David is responsible for business development.

Jonathan Evans

Jonathan studied History at the University of London, sat the law conversion course at Manchester Metropolitan University, and then completed his studies at the College of Law in Chester. Jonathan was a trainee Solicitor at Scott Rees and qualified in 2000. He was made a Partner in 2010 and now heads our employers and public liability claims department

Tim Allen

Tim joined Scott Rees in June 2005. He studied law at Bristol University and the Chester College of Law. Tim has worked at various legal practices and has gained a wealth of experience in the personal injury field. He specialises in multi-track and fast-track claims, including employer's liability, public liability and road traffic accident claims. He became a Partner in 2007.

Chris Walker

Chris specialises in complex catastrophic and serious injury cases featuring brain injuries, internal injuries and orthopaedic injuries. He deals with cases where damages exceed a million Pounds, and routinely handles cases with compensation values amounting to several hundreds of thousands of Pounds.
Chris has been working in personal injury litigation since 1992 and joined Scott Rees in 1999. He was made a partner in June 2009.

Simon Shaw

Simon rejoined Scott Rees as a Partner in August 2009 having spent four years working for the firm previously. Simon has been working in the personal injury claims sector since 1996 specialising in road traffic accident claims.

Stuart Mackinnon

Stuart joined the firm in 2004 as Finance Manager. He graduated in Accounting and Finance at Liverpool Polytechnic and subsequently qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1995. Later he studied for a Masters in Business Administration through Open University. After a varied career within the manufacturing sector he moved into the service sector, gaining valuable operational and systems experience. He was made Finance Director at Scott Rees in 2011.

Pauline Shaw

Pauline is responsible for all human resource activities in the firm including the formation of policies and procedures. She is a qualified Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Pauline worked in the financial, retail and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) industries before joining Scott Rees.

Andrew Gavin joined Scott Rees & Co in 2008, and leads our IT Team in developing and supporting our IT and telephony systems.

Andrew graduated from Newcastle University in 1998 and has worked in Legal IT for over 10 years, covering all aspects of hardware and software, in particular the development and integration of legal case management systems.

She studied Business and Finance at Wigan and Leigh College and went on to complete a BA in International Business Administrations at Humberside and Lincolnshire University.
