Scott Rees Backs Skelmerdale School
Legal firm Scott Rees & Co is backing Skelmersdale teachers!
The Lancashire firm has pledged £500 to support West Lancashire Community High School’s bid to become a ‘Communication and Interaction’ specialist school.
The Skelmersdale based high school can accommodate up to 90 pupils and focuses on helping children who have varying ranges of learning difficulties or may have additional needs due to hearing or speech impairments.
Headteacher Sue Reynolds is looking to raise £20,000 which the school needs before it can apply for additional governmental funding of up to £100,000 to support its goal of sharing its expertise with other teachers and educational establishments in the region.
She said: “We hope to build an area within the school which teachers and assistants can visit to observe and learn more about the techniques and aids that can be used to improve teaching methods and communication with children who have special requirements.
“We are very grateful to Scott Rees & Co for its pledge as it’s always a challenge to raise funds especially when people and companies are feeling the credit crunch.”
The school is hoping to apply for specialist status later this year and is planning a number of activities and events to help it reach its £20,000 target.
Royston Smith, Managing Partner of Scott Rees, said: “We are delighted to be supporting West Lancashire Community High School and its very important work with youngsters. One of our own employees has a child at the school so we are aware of the great job that the staff do.
“We wish them every success in achieving their target and hope that other companies and individuals in the region will support them so that other children can benefit from the school’s knowledge and skills.”
