Consumer Research about Wills

CONSUMER-related research into wills services could be disrupted if Government plans go ahead.

The coalition's scrapping of hundreds of Quangos announced last week may prompt the merger of the Legal Services Consumer Panel with the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

The Panel has been working with solicitors and consumers to uncover the true nature of wills writing services after the growth of unregulated organisations and complaints over hidden charges and mal practise.

Lawyers, members of the public and organisations are currently being asked to contribute to their research with views and experiences.

Firms like Scott Rees & Co Solicitors comply with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and services are provided by professionally trained solicitors protected by indemnity schemes for the benefit of both client and firm.

At Scott Rees we provide professional and affordable legal expertise.

Here's what to consider when making a will:

If you are married and die without making a will, your husband or wife may not automatically be entitled to all of your estate - such as property, savings, jewellery, investments, vehicles, family heirlooms, property abroad and other assets such as furniture and pictures.

If you are unmarried and live with a partner, your partner will not automatically be entitled to anything from your estate.

It is possible to reduce the amount of tax payable on inheritance through a carefully prepared will.

Use a will to plan funeral arrangements and make bequests to friends, charities and organisations.

Peace of mind and the security of knowing you have done your best to provide for loved ones.

Remember always seek best advice from a professionally trained and fully regulated solicitor.
