NEW TECHNOLOGY TO BENEFIT MOTORISTS AND MOTORCYCLISTS

NEW safety enhancing technology for the benefit of motorists and motorcyclists is being researched according to recent media reports.
Scientists and engineers are developing new systems to help significantly reduce the number of car crashes on the road despite the presence of outside factors such as bad weather conditions and human error.
Sophisticated developments such as auto-breaking technology are currently being researched by major car manufacturers including Volvo and General Motors to ensure drivers and passengers can survive even the worst kind of catastrophic accidents.
The news has prompted fears that the new technology may lead to reduced concentration levels among motorists as they increasingly rely on safety technology, particuarly during difficult driving conditons.
Meanwhile new research and develpment to equip motorbikes with safety features usually found on cars is also in the pipeline and could be available within two years.
It is widely known that a large percentage of road accident fatalities involve motorbike riders.
Systems currently being tested include warnings about speed limits, the tightness of road bends and useful information about the behaviour of other vehicles to help manouvres such as changing lanes.
